Meet Our Ministerial Staff
Minister Katrina Armstead is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. She is a native of Spotsylvania, Virginia and is the wife of Minister Eric Armstead, Pastor of Fine Arts. She is the mother of four children; Ericka, Maya, Mykel and Gabriel. Minister Katrina Armstead comes from a family of singers and was licensed to preach at Mount Hope on October 25, 2015. Minister Armstead strives to be an example of a virtuous woman—a woman who is yielded to God in every area of her life. Minister Armstead’s favorite bible verse is Psalm 118:17, “I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord.”
Minister Maurice Hilton Bowles, III, is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia and serves as the Youth Pastor under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. A native of Petersburg, Virginia, he publicly accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of seven. Minister Bowles was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Petersburg. He majored in Health and Physical Education at Virginia State University. His joy in life is seeing young people grow in relationship with God, through Christ Jesus. His life’s motto can be found in Romans 8:28, “…all things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.”
Reverend Doris Cannon is a Senior Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. She was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. She attended Hampton University where she majored in Education and in Business Management at Hampton University and Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. She was licensed to preach the Gospel in September of 1987 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Woodbridge, VA. She is a 2011 graduate of the Evans Smith Program of Religious Studies at Virginia Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia and a 2015 graduate of Germanna Community College in Fredericksburg, Virginia with an Associate’s degree in General Studies. Reverend Cannon is the Ministry Leader of the Prison Ministry and also serves on the Prophetic Ministry, the Women’s Ministry, as a Sunday School Teacher, Disciple Institute Teacher and a member of the Christian Education Ministry. She is the mother of three children – Samuel III, Bonita and Ivan – who has transitioned to be with the Lord, and one grandson, Brandon. She is a Spirit-filled Preacher/Teacher of the Word who has a special heart for hurting people everywhere. Proverbs 31:1 asks, “Who can find a virtuous woman?”
Minister Kellen Donelson is an Associate Minister of Mount Hope Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia and serves as Music Director under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. A native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, in 2014, Minister Donelson graduated from Virginia State University (VSU) in Petersburg, Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. Minister Donelson is currently a substitute teacher in the Richmond County Public School System in Warsaw, Virginia. Additionally, Minister Donelson is a member of the gospel recording group, Faithful Connection, and the proud father of one daughter, Destiny. Day by day, he strives to live out the Christian lifestyle call found in Romans 12:2, which states, “Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Minister Rodney Dickhute is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. After graduating from Gar-Field High School in 1983, he joined the Army through the Delayed Entry Program. Minister Dickhute accepted the Lord as his personal savior at Dale City Church of God in June of 1989. Upon hearing the call, Minister Rodney and his family helped to start a plant church in Nokesville, Virginia. In 2001, he accepted his calling into the ministry, and in May of 2003, he received his license as a Licensed Exhorter in the Church of God. Minister Rodney, his wife, Mary, and son, Austin, joined Mount Hope Baptist Church in January 2013 and have been active members in the Fine Arts Ministry. Minister Rodney and his wife of 30 years, MaryJune, are residents of Fredericksburg, and the proud parents of three beautiful children: Mary Elizabeth, Kayla and Austin. They are also the grandparents to Amerie, Maximus, Callie and Leo.
Reverend Charles R. Garnett, Jr. is a Senior Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist church serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. He was licensed to preach on July 31, 1993, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Spotsylvania, Virginia. He was ordained to the Gospel of Ministry on May 27, 1995. A native of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Reverend Garnett graduated from Spotsylvania Senior High school. He received his Bachelor’s degree of Theology from the Bible Institute in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Reverend Garnett is a covering minister for the terminally ill and a member of the Prophetic Ministry. He performs baptisms, weddings, teaches Power Enrichment classes, facilitates Kingdom Building classes, and is involved in various Outreach Ministry activities. He is a student of Hebrew and is married to Audrey R. Garnett. They have two sons – Charles R. Garnett, III and Ian Ross Garnett; they have three grandchildren.
Minister Louise Green is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr., and is often sought to preach at prayer breakfasts, conferences and other church events to encourage women in the faith. She is a well-known teacher and prior to coming to Mount Hope, she taught Sunday school for many years. Minister Green has completed two years of study from the Charles Stanley Institute and has served as a Deaconess for 12 years. Minister Green is married to Reverend James Green and is currently on the ministerial track toward ordination.
Reverend James Green is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. Reverend Green is a retired pastor who has taught many courses over the years, including a marriage course that helps Christian couples build marriages that reflect the love and grace of God. He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Park College and a Master’s degree in Theology from Virginia Union University. Reverend Green has served in the military for many years and now enjoys retirement with his wife, Minister Louise Green and their family.
Reverend Dr. Sharon Kim Jones is the Executive Minister at Mount Hope Baptist church serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. Dr. Jones is a graduate of the University of Maryland where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a specialized concentration in Behavioral and Social Science. She was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ at First Baptist Church of N. Brentwood, Maryland on April 12, 2000, has a Masters of Divinity degree from Howard University School of Divinity (summa cum laude), and was ordained by Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, DC through the American Baptist Convention, USA and the DC Baptist Convention. Rev. Dr. Jones earned a D.Min. from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC specializing in Church Leadership and Excellence. She is currently completing an MBA specializing in Global Business Management at the University of Maryland and is married to Minister Kirk Lomotey. She is the proud mother of two adult daughters – ShaNai Kristina and India Rayshon, and is the grandmother of Zahra Camila. Dr. Jones is a living testimony to Proverbs 22:6, “Train a child in the way she should go and when she is old she will not depart from it.”
Minister Kirk Lomotey is an Associate Minister of Mount Hope Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia and serves as a Sunday School teacher for adults, a greeter, member of the Fine Arts Ministry and Leader for the Evangelism Ministry. Minister Lomotey was born in Harlem, New York and attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College and the University of South Dakota where he majored in Computer Science. He is married to Reverend Sharon Jones and is the father of two adult daughters ShaNai and India. Minister Lomotey accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 23 and was licensed to preach on October 25, 2015 at Mt. Hope Baptist Church. His favorite scripture is Joshua 24:15, which states, “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Reverend Stanford Moore is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr., and currently serves in a supportive role on the Ministerial team. Reverend Moore graduated from Washington Seminary, was licensed in 1979 and ordained in 1986 in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is one of the elders on the team who is often sought to provide counsel and advice to those new to the Gospel Ministry. Reverend Moore is married to Valerie Moore, who serves as Mount Hope Baptist Church Treasurer.
Minister Eddie Pearson is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. He has a Master of Arts degree from Liberty University in Evangelism and Church Planting and was licensed to preach the Gospel on October 25, 2015 by Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. and currently serves as the Discipleship Coordinator for Men. Minister Pearson’s primary ministry focus is with men and their relationship with Jesus Christ, their families, the church and the community. Minister Pearson believes that as men are restored to their rightful place in God, they will begin to realize and operate in their God-ordained authority and power. Minister Pearson is married to Deaconess Vontrice Pearson and together they have three sons – Jamel, Ramel and Tramel.
Dr. Harry James Pilson, Sr. is an Associate Minister of Mount Hope Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. and serves in the Support Ministry. Dr. Pilson is a native of Bassett, Virginia, and graduated from Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia with a Masters of Divinity degree. He received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from Virginia Seminary and College in 1989, (now Virginia University at Lynchburg). He also received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from St. Thomas Christian College, Jacksonville, Florida, on January 29, 2012. Reverend Pilson is married to the former Olivia I. Scruggs and they have two sons, Harry J. Pilson, II and Eric L. Pilson. They have a daughter-in-law, Lisa (wife of Harry II) and two grandsons, Harris Warren and Carter James. Dr. Pilson is a retired pastor with 41 years of pastoral experience, who believes that the ministry is a partnership in kingdom building. We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain – 2 Corinthians 6:1 (NKJV).
Reverend Olivia Scruggs Pilson is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church, Fredericksburg, Virginia and serves as the Ministry Leader of the Discipleship Ministry under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. A native of Fluvanna County (Bremo Bluff), Virginia, Reverend Pilson graduated from the Capital Bible Seminary of Lanham, Maryland with a Masters of Arts degree in Christian Counseling and Discipleship. She is married to Rev. Dr. Harry J. Pilson, and they are the proud parents of two adult sons, Harry II and Eric. They have a daughter-in-law Lisa (wife of Harry II) and two grandsons, Harris and Carter. Reverend Pilson is a servant leader of the Lord and is a testimony to Isaiah 26:12, “Lord, you will grant us peace, for all we have accomplished is really from you.” Therefore, her desire is to share the love and peace of God with the world by “making disciples that intentionally and strategically make disciples for Jesus Christ.”
Reverend Connie Robinson is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. She is a native of Spotsylvania County and was licensed to preach on February 12, 2012 by Pastor Raymond A. Bell Jr., and was ordained on January 10, 2016. Reverend Robinson was educated in the Spotsylvania County Public Schools. In 2009, she was awarded her Diploma of Biblical Studies from the Arm of the Lord’s Bible College, Fredericksburg, Virginia (Kingsway University Norwalk Iowa). Reverend Robinson enjoys teaching the Word of God and has been involved in several ministries at Mount Hope Baptist Church including the Discipleship Ministry, Intercessory Prayer Ministry, Prophetic Ministry, Christian Education Ministry and the Evangelism Ministry. She has several certificates in Christian Counseling, an Associate’s degree in Theology and is currently completing her Bachelor’s degree in Theology. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Reverend Robinson loves the Lord and being an empty vessel that He can use. She often reflects on one of her favorite scriptures found in Jeremiah 1: 4-5, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Reverend Michael Washington is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. He graduated from the Washington Baptist Seminary in Washington, D. C. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of Phoenix campus. He also earned an Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences, Healthcare Management, from the Community College of the Air Force, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. Reverend Washington was ordained by Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. on January 10, 2016 and his favorite scripture is: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). His passion is street preaching and witnessing, and he enjoys working with teenagers and men dealing with interpersonal challenges and struggles. Reverend Washington is the father of Kaitlyn Marie Washington.
Reverend LaVon Washington is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist church serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. She graduated from Germanna Community College with an Associate’s degree in Business Administration and an Accounting Certificate. She was licensed to preach the gospel in 1995 and was ordained in 1999. Reverend Washington is “a woman of God who speaks about a man from Galilee who came to set the capture free” and has many years of street ministry experience. She is the wife of Vincent Washington and the proud mother of three children – Malcolm, Tiffany and Melody.
Minister Ruben Velez Jr., is an Associate Minister at Mount Hope Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr. He was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and raised in Buffalo, New York. Minister Velez was called to the ministry as a child. He was licensed to the Gospel Ministry on October 25, 2015 at Mt. Hope Baptist Church. Currently, he serves as an Armor Bearer and a Sunday School Teacher for teenagers and adults. He currently resides in Fredericksburg, Virginia with his wife, Catana Hollins, and their three children – Devin Hollins-Coleman, Ruben and Jayla.
