Reverend Dr. Raymond A. Bell, Jr., a native Washingtonian, serves as the Senior Pastor of Mount Hope Baptist Church, Fredericksburg, Virginia. Since 1986, under his spiritual guidance and leadership, church membership has increased from 60 disciples to over 1,000 members.
Strategic planning, focused church growth initiatives, coaching, mentoring and training have been major emphasis areas in Dr. Bell’s ministry. Through his visionary leadership, church and area leaders worked collaboratively to purchase 20-acres of land for future expansion, including plans for a 1500-seat sanctuary, daycare, K-12 school, Family Life Center and office complex.
Dr. Bell received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Justice and Law from American University in 1982. He completed both his Master of Arts degree in Christian Education from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education, and his Master’s of Divinity from Virginia Union University School of Theology, both located in Richmond, Virginia. In 1993,
Dr. Bell earned his Doctorate of Ministry from Howard University. As part of his commitment to lifelong learning, Dr. Bell is also a graduate of the Georgetown University Leadership Coaching Certification Program and serves as a Certified Leadership Coach. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Sorensen Political Institute, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. Currently, Dr. Bell is focusing on expanding his coaching ministry and enhancing his community outreach efforts.
