MOUNT HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH

A MESSAGE FROM OUR YOUTH PASTOR

Greetings in the great name of our lord, Jesus Christ!  I am excited that you have chosen to drop in on “The STANDARD” Youth Ministry!  God is doing some amazing and intentional things with us in the life of Mount Hope Baptist Church.  As you look through all that we have to offer youth (grades 6th - 12th), it is my prayer that your experience is beyond meaningful.

I am glad you found us and I hope to meet you really soon!

In His Service,

Rev. Maurice Hilton Bowles, III

Youth and Young Adult Pastor

"THE STANDARD"

YOUTH MINISTRY

thestandard@mthopeva.org

“The STANDARD” desires to lead youth grades 6th – 12th, in an ongoing tangible relationship with God through Christ Jesus that will transition them into adulthood.  Using a culture of care, it is our unified hope to achieve this mission through Discipleship, Relationship, Education, Evangelism, and Service to The Community.

WHY ARE WE KNOWN AS “The Standard?”

Our ministry name, “The STANDARD,” is derived from Isaiah 59:19: “So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a “STANDARD” against him.”

This name does not suggest that we are The STANDARD. Our youth ministry name, “The STANDARD” is directing attention to the fact that no matter what tricks the enemy tries to pull, “GOD’S STANDARD” is more powerful. This is God’s standard, therefore it’s not “a standard,” it is “The STANDARD!” The ULTIMATE standard that God has lifted up against the enemy is THE SON, JESUS CHRIST!
